Viva Liberace
August 26, 2008
Who represents the glitz and glam of Las Vegas better than the late Liberace? That’s why when you’re in Las Vegas you must pay a visit to the Liberace Museum. It’s all things Liberace and a fitting tribute to the flashy pianist and showman. Here you’ll find plenty of rhinestone-studded, fur-draped costumes and spectacular “bling” that only Liberace could wear. There are 18 rare and antique pianos on display in the piano gallery, including a rhinestone-encrusted Baldwin grand. You also must see Liberace’s favorite piano, a fantastic concert grand covered entirely in glittering mirror squares. Another incredible sight is the hand-painted red, white and blue Rolls-Royce convertible. There’s also another Rolls-Royce covered in mirrored tiles and etched with a design of galloping horses. You can even wander through a sparkling recreation of Liberace’s master bedroom from his Palm Springs, Calif., estate. For your dining and shopping pleasure there’s a small café and a gift shop.
The Liberace Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
